Tips to Avoid Boredom in Marriage

They may say that married life is bliss but everyone who has been married knows that there are times it isn’t very fun at all. Sometimes it’s downright boring.

The courtship process and the wedding itself is a whirlwind affair filled with excitement and love. Then you settle in to the relationship and things can get a little boring. Here are some tips to avoid boredom in marriage.

  1. Engage in Life and Growth

One key to avoiding marriage boredom is to not withdraw from life. You need to still live your life and grow personally.

Make some new friends and join new groups. You should never feel that being married or being a little older means that you can’t grow anymore or learn new things. Remember that you continue to grow for literally your entire life.

  1. Keep True to your Purpose

What do you do best and how can you best apply your skills and gifts to the world around you and your relationship?

Learn more about the meaning of life in general and the meaning of your life. You have a place in the world and you need to find it and embrace it.

  1. Connect with your Spouse but Still Give them Room

Your spouse needs to engage with their own friends and pursue their own life, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get involved with each other. Talk with each other about your dreams and what you think and feel about everything. You can continue to learn from your spouse during your marriage and it makes for fun and interesting conversation.

  1. Support Each Other

You need to keep each other going and encourage your partner to embrace and try new things. Too many couples feel threatened when their spouse decides they want to give something new a try.

Instead you need to encourage your partner to embrace these new ideas because they feel happy and supported when you do so. You and your spouse are two different people so you need to embrace those differences and support when you can’t join in.

  1. Adapt and Learn

You need to continue to adapt and learn about the world around you and give new things a go. You shouldn’t get stuck in your ways or it becomes too difficult to keep your mind open and embrace new ways to think and act. You can’t grow and change unless you welcome these new ideas. Here are some ideas to try to get that sparkle going.

If you want to avoid boredom in marriage you have to take a good look at yourself and work out what you want out of life, and then talk to your spouse about it and get them to do it with you. This conversation will bring about a lot of curiosity and will be pretty interesting. It should also trigger you and your spouse into living your life properly to avoid boredom. Being married is no excuse to stop living. So start living and stop being bored!

Some Myths about Acne

surprised face

Acne is a pretty bad thing for anyone to go through. What’s worse is being uninformed about it.

To say that acne is only a problem for teenagers is false. This is a myth because we have something called adult acne which can grow on our face and on our body. Acne is something that’s recurring and nobody ever grows out of it.

I see a lot a women coming before their marriage with adult acne… which  makes make up even more complicated. so here are a few things to know.

In fact, you might have read somewhere that doing something can cause or prevent acne. The fact is not all of these are true. With that in mind here’s a look at some of the myths and truths of acne.

Myth: Acne Is Caused By Food

There are a lot of reasons you should eat healthy food but if you’re eating healthy to get rid of, or prevent, acne then you’re out of luck. Acne isn’t caused only by eating candy and French fries. It actually takes about three weeks for a pimple to fully form so that chocolate you had the day before the pimple showed up? there are other factor to take into account.

Myth:Washing Your Face Is Good As It Removes Dirt

There are several causes behind acne. Junk food isn’t one of them, and neither is dirt. So if you wash your face to get rid of the dirt you should stop when it’s clean. Try to avoid washing your face more than two times a day. Overdoing the cleaning of your face can actually cause more damage to it which is something you undoubtedly want to avoid.

Scrubbing Your Face Avoids Blemishes

Just as you should avoid washing your face too much, you should avoid scrubbing it too much. Especially if you use an alcohol based cleanser. They will tear away at your skin, removing all the essential oil that keep it moisturized and actually keep blemishes away. It’s recommended instead that you scrub gently and use cleansers and toners that don’t have alcohol in them.

However, scrubing is important to avoid your pores to be clogged which is the starting point of acne, pimples, whiteheads and blackheads called comedo. By the way, our friends, sophie and her team have just published another great guide to get rid of whiteheads, check it, it is really worth it.  Sebum, dead skin cells, bacteria can build up and lead to those whiteheads  or bumps in the T-zone ( Forehead, nose, chin…) make sure to scrub at least once a week to let your pores get rid of any oil excess….

Myth: You Can Be Too Old To Get Acne

The stereotypical acne sufferer is a teenager. It’s the spotty kid or the girl who is about to go to prom or on a date when her face explodes. The fact is that while it is true that 90% of teenagers get acne, they aren’t the only ones. 50% of women and 25% of men in their 20s and even 30s will suffer from acne. You should never think that you’re clear just because you’re not a teenager anymore.

Myth: Acne Isn’t Serious

We all laugh at that stereotypical teen who just wants their face to be spot free and think it’s not a big deal, but it is. It’s a big deal socially of course. Acne sufferers are often laughed at and mocked, which is pretty damaging. But it does also lead to physical problems. Acne scars are a real thing and your face can be left permanently scarred by bad acne. So don’t listen when people tell you to just get over acne. There’s a chance you might never fully recover. If you get too worried visit a dermatologist.

Myth: Acne Can Be Cured

The last dose of the truth is perhaps the hardest to swallow. The fact is that acne can be controlled by medicine, but it can not be cured. All you can do is lessen the damage and mitigate it. An actual cure is still a long way away.

How To Entertain Your Wedding Guests

Your wedding is one of the most important days of your life.

It’s something beautiful that you share with your friends and family. While the excitement of getting married might be enough to entertain you, it won’t be enough to entertain your guests. They aren’t getting married after all!

If you want to ensure your wedding is memorable for all the right reasons then here are some great tips for how to entertain your wedding guests.

  1. Keep Them Fed

You need to make sure that your guests have something to nibble on before the ceremony as well as after it.

It takes a long time between a wedding getting started and the reception afterwards. It’s more than enough time for people to get hungry, which just makes them crankier.

Find small appetisers that your guests can enjoy while they wait so that they are happy and refreshed by the time the ceremony starts.

  1. Stick to the Plan

Okay so you can’t stick to a wedding plan with military precision, but you should also avoid keeping your guests waiting around while you take pictures.

If you know there’s going to be a lot bit of dullness for your guests, such as when taking pictures; then you should consider setting up a space with some snacks and drinks for guests to sit and wait. They can get the party started before it really gets started.

  1. Change The Venue

If you’ve got the budget for it you’d be surprised at where you can hold the reception. Why not go all out by doing something unconventional such as holding your wedding reception at a science museum or even a zoo?

Of course even if you have to stick with a more traditional venue you can still spice it up a little with some décor or entertainment. Have a chat with the site manager to find out more about what you can do with the space to make it more entertaining.

  1. Time the Toasts

Every wedding needs a good toast or two. Or five.

The problem is that these toasts quickly add up and they can end up going quite long too. You should consider limiting the amount of toasts you have and how long each toaster has to give their speech.

That way it doesn’t get too long and painful for your guests and they can quickly get back to the festivities and having fun.

  1. Relax

There’s no underestimating how stressful it can be to plan a wedding, but you should avoid stressing out about any tiny details and just have fun. Your wedding will likely not be 100% according to plan and something will almost definitely go wrong.

Just relax and don’t stress out about it and your guests will have a whole lot of fun too. Keep a friend at hand who can slip you some drinks when you start getting stressed out if you need to.

keep in mind you can also simply let your wedding planner handle all the tiny details 🙂

Remember that it’s your wedding. It needs to be the happiest and most fun day of your life. So don’t stress out and enjoy yourself and your guests will enjoy themselves too.

How to Maintain a Happy Marriage With Children

Marriages can be a whole lot of fun but then the kids come along.

Sometimes a marriage can quickly become all about the kids and it takes some of the happiness and fun out of it. You find it more difficult to spend time together and you barely ever get any alone time any more.

Here’s how to maintain a happy and healthy marriage with children.

Put Each Other Before the Kids

When you’re putting together a healthy marriage you need to focus on your partner more than you focus on your kids.

You’re a husband before a father, or a wife before a mother. The marriage forms the backbone of the relationship and you need everyone to be able to see and feel it. Let your kids see how much you love each other and show your partner that they are still special to you.

It also makes your kids feel more secure.

Don’t Interfere With your Partner’s Parenting

You and your partner will have a different role in your child’s life.

  • Mothers are typically the nurturers. They make children eat their vegetables and kiss their scrapes away.
  • Dads tend to be the fun and cool ones. Dad lets kids eat what they want when they want and just mess around.

While you might feel that your approach is better you should let your partner do things their way for a balanced upbringing.

Be United

To follow on from not interfering you also need to present a united front. You should support your partner and their decisions.

If your kids try and say that your partner let them do something you should resist the urge to say that you say they can’t, which is probably going to be difficult. Being a consistent united front shows your strength to your kids and lets them know that they can’t get away with something and say they were told it was okay by your partner.

Exercise

Staying active helps keep you and your relationship healthy. It also shows off some positive behavior to your kids. You can make it a family affair by going on walks or bike rides together as a family.

That further reinforces the positive behavior with your kids and gets them excited about exercise. No matter what it is you do make sure you do something and enjoy the endorphins that come with it.

Have Sex

When you think about it it’s almost ironic that a child would disrupt the very process that brought them into the world. Having a kid can really destroy a sex life but there’s no reason to let it. You need to make sex a priority again and find time for one another.

Sex and physical intimacy are what is holding your marriage together (plus it’s fun!) so make it a part of your marriage; even if you have to lock the bedroom door.

Kids can quickly become a major part of any marriage, but you still need to find time for each other and spend time together as a couple. Your partner, and indeed your marriage, will thank you for it.

Medical treatments to get rid of acne scars before the wedding day.

acne scarsWhen we meet someone for her wedding makeup, we usually like to do it months before as we often can help her shine for he wedding day. Make up is perfect to hide some scars but let’s be clear, we always recommend our clients to take action and improve their skin.

We know acne scars can be pretty depressing but the good news is that if you suffer acne scars there are treatments out there. There are a few different medical treatments for acne scars that you can explore a few months before your wedding day to give time for your skin to heal and shine.

Skin Peels

If you’ve tried conventional acne medicine and it’s not good a good job you should consider a chemical peel for acne scars. A chemical peel, much like the name implies, involves having a chemical solution applied to your skin. This makes your skin blister. As the skin blisters it is replaced by new skin. This exfoliation effect can remove acne blemishes and scars. It can also improve the overall appearance of your skin so there are other positive effects to skin peels.

Microdermabrasion

A microdermabrasion treatment is similar to a skin peel in that the skin cells are removed. With this treatment tiny crystals are used to actually remove the skin cells and unclog your pores but a wand with diamond crystals is mostly used instead.

Microdermabrasion works great against superficial acne  scars. It doesn’t use any chemicals or lasers so some people may prefer this method for this reason. As microdermabrasion can be used for more than just acne it can be done on your face, chest, back or shoulders.

Check our packages : we propose some microdermabrasion sesssions here. But we do recommend you to consult your dermatologist first.

Laser Resurfacing Treatment

Laser treatments can be effective at treating acne scars because they are laser-focused. A dermatologist armed with a laser will only target the acne scar cells and leave the healthy skin cells nearby alone.

There are a few different kinds of laser resurfacing treatment options available. The two most common ones are CO2RE, which targets superficial and deeper skin layers and Fraxel, which goes much deeper into your skin. Your dermatologist will be able to suggest which is the right choice for your acne scars.

Microneedling

Microneedling is also good  for really deep acne scars. It also works to treat wrinkles and sun damage. With microneedling tiny needles are injected into the skin to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin. It essentially stimulates the body’s natural healing process. The needles can be sent as deep as needed to treat wrinkles and acne scars. It’s one of the best treatments for bad cases of acne scars and it does a lot less tissue damage than you’d think given the name of the treatment and the description of “tiny needles are jabbed into the skin”.

Which treatment will work best for your acne scars depends on your situation.

It’s important to discuss your options with your physician and dermatologist and get their recommendations. It can also depend on your personal preferences. if you want to read more about how to remove acne scars, take a look at sophie’s blog post which disscuses in detail all the available acne treatments.

But keep in mind if you consider some acne scar treatments, plan it a few months before your wedding makeup so the swelling or redness are gone for your wedding day.

What to do After an Argument With Your Loved One

argument-coupleNo one wants to go through an argument with the person they love.

It’s a sad fact of life that you will inevitably argue though. No relationship is perfect and if you think yours is then something is wrong. There are a few things to do to keep a healthy relationship.

But I guess the main issues stem from the fights and arguments with your beloved one.

There are things you can do after an argument to make things better though.

Here is a list of what to do after an argument with your loved one.

Give Them Space and Time

Immediately after an argument is when both of your tempers will still be flared and at their peak.

You’re both more likely to do or say something terrible if you don’t give someone the space and time they need to come down. If you try and make up too soon and they aren’t feeling receptive then you’ll just end up in an another argument.

Understand Why the Argument Happened

There’s a saying that you never fight for the reason you think you do. There are deeper reasons behind every argument.

Some big problems end up coming out through tiny little things.

Here are some of the real reasons that people argue. When you understand the reason why, you can move past it.

  • Inadequacy is a big reason your partner will start an argument.
  • They feel they aren’t good enough.
  • A fear of abandonment is another.
  • They are worried that you will leave them.
  • They may also feel unappreciated.

Remember that you may feel these things too.

Convey How You Really Feel In One Go

When you know the real reason you started an argument it’s important you convey that in a simple and concise manner. Just tell your partner exactly how you feel in one sentence.

Tell them what you feel and why. Such a sentence might be “I feel angry that I don’t have enough money to support you” or “I get scared if you talk to other people”.

Apologise, Even if You Aren’t to Blame

Even if you didn’t start the argument you can be the one to nip it in the bud and apologise for what happened. It can stop your partner and make them apologise too.

Explain that you didn’t want to argue with them and you want to try talking to them again when you’ve both calmed down. Remember to be sincere in your apology or your partner will pick up on it and you’ll quickly be in another argument.

Create Ground Rules

If your argument was a particularly bad one or it was about something that can be changed you may want to set new ground rules in your relationship.

You can agree to not shout at eachother again or agree that you or your partner won’t do the thing that caused the argument again.

Remember that love was never supposed to be easy. It was just supposed to be worth it. It is worth it too. Love can get past any argument or disagreement and if you and your partner love eachother you can move past this argument and, with careful manoeuvring, avoid such an argument in the future.

Tips for a Healthy Marriage

happy-marriageMarriage, and relationships in general, are never easy.

Things come up and things happen. The thing is though; no one ever said love would be easy. They just said it would be worth it. Which it is.

you read our article about knowing when you are ready for marriage. But what about after the marriage? If you want to know how to keep a healthy marriage then just read these tips for a healthy marriage.

Communication is Key!

One of the biggest reasons that marriages and relationships fail is one that is ever so easy to avoid. That is a lack of communication.

When you get started in a relationship you can spend hours just talking to eachother. Over time the levels of communication go down though. You talk less.

Change that. Talk more with your partner. Especially if something is on your mind. If there is something bothering you then say it before it becomes such a big problem that you explode and start an argument. There is a difference between communicating and arguing. check this article with nice tips to help you with communication.

Keep the Passion Alive

Another problem with long term relationships is a lack of passion.

Again, at the start of a relationship, you’re lucky if you keep your hands off each other long enough to get anything done. Then things just fall into a routine and you’re lucky if you ever feel the passion again.

A lack of passion is a common cause for cheating or for falling out of love. People meet someone new and they feel that same spark of passion but you know what? Typically they could end up in another passionless relationship. Take the time to enjoy being together and find ways to keep the passion in the relationship alive. check these dating ideas from the health website here.

Say “I Love You”

It may sound silly to keep saying that you love someone after years together but it’s a small gesture that can go a long way.

If you go too long without saying it then it’s easy for the other person to think that perhaps you don’t love them anymore.

Those three little words can have a serious effect on a relationship so make sure to keep the love alive by letting your partner know how much you still love them. Surprise your partner by calling them up just to say it to them.

Be Complimentary

Don’t be afraid to compliment your partner in public.

You should at least feel comfortable complimenting them in front of children if you have them. Complimenting your partner makes them feel better and makes them feel closer to you. It makes them know how much you really like them.

If you do it in front of the kids then they pick up positive messages about how couples should interact and it makes them feel good to know their parents are loving towards eachother.

These are just some of the ways you can secure a long and happy marriage. There are plenty of other things you can do too. If you feel like your relationship isn’t as healthy as it could be, whether you’ve been together ten weeks or ten years, then it’s up to you to do something about it. No one else will.

Tips To Get Rid Of A Pimple for your wedding day

pimple-faceLet’s face it; pimples are embarrassing and pointless. It is even worse when it is your Wedding day.No one wants them, yet we all get them at some point. But how do you get rid of them? That’s a question that is about to be answered.

Here’s how to get rid of a pimple quick so it won’t ruin your wedding day :

Ice

Ice is used all the time to treat swelling. A pimple is a kind of swelling. Ergo it stands to reason that ice can be used to treat a pimple. It’s true too. Just apply ice to a pimple and it’ll go down. It also reduces the redness and noticeability of pimples, as well as tightening the skin to help get rid of them quick.

Lemons

Lemons are rich in vitamin C, which can be used to get rid of pimples.

This method isn’t quite so quick, as it’s an overnight fix, but it’s still faster than most over the counter remedies. Apply fresh (not bottled!) lemon juice to the pimple before bed and wash it off with warm water in the morning. You’ll be amazed at the results.

Toothpaste

Toothpaste can also be used for pimples. You need to use white toothpaste for this. Apply the toothpaste to the pimple and leave it there for at least half an hour.

Like with the lemon you might prefer to leave it on overnight. Then wash it off later/in the morning. Repeat it until the pimple is gone.

Garlic

Whether or not you like the taste and smell of garlic, there’s no denying how good it is for you. It’s an antioxidant, antiviral, antifungal, antiseptic that can cure what ails you, including pimples. All you have to do is cut a piece of garlic in half and apply it to your pimple.

Hold it there for at least five minutes and then wash it off with warm water. Do this several times a day and your pimple will be history.

Witch Hazel

Witch hazel is a must have if you need an astringent for oily and acne prone skins thanks to its properties.

However, it can also be used for many other uses on face such as pimples, cuts, moisturization. Check the article from our friend’s blog about the many witch hazel uses on skin here. We learnt a few things too.

Baking Soda

To fix your pimples with baking soda first create a paste by mixing one teaspoon of baking soda with water or lemon juice. Apply the paste to your face for a few minutes.

It’s important to not leave it on for too long because baking soda can damage your skin, as well as help it. Wash it off with warm water. Like with the garlic you can do this several times a day for quick results.

Cucumber

Cucumbers are filled with potassium and vitamins that are all good for the skin. What’s good for the skin is good for getting rid of pimples. That’s why you see people who put cucumbers over their eyes. You can use cucumber in two ways. The first is to leave it in water for a few hours and then drink the water or apply it to your face.

The other is to create a face mask. You do this by grinding a whole cucumber. Apply the mask to your face, leave for fifteen minutes, and wash it off with warm water.

Give each different trick a try and see what works for you. Of course the best way to get rid of pimples is to not get them at all. Don’t neglect skincare, especially when it comes to your face.

How To Tell When You’re Ready For Marriage

marriage coupleMarriage is something that most people want to go through. They pick someone who they feel will be their partner in life and love. Sometimes people move too quickly though. Or they don’t realise they’re ready and then they never end up getting married. If you want to know if you’re ready for marriage then let’s take a look at how you can tell.

You’re Committed (And so is Your Partner)

The biggest hindrance to marriage is a lack of commitment. There’s no real shame in not being committed enough. But if you want to get married you have to be committed. Marriage is supposed to a lifetime commitment. If you don’t look at your partner and see yourself staying with them, dealing with your mother-in law, always, through thick and thin, then you just aren’t ready yet and you still need to grow some more.

The Relationship is Stable

As well as being committed you need a stable relationship to get married. This doesn’t mean that you can’t get married if you have some arguments. No relationship is perfect. But if your relationship is toxic and you fight a lot then maybe you aren’t ready. You also shouldn’t get married if you find yourself constantly breaking up and getting back together. Stable relationships make for stable and long lasting marriages.

You Think in Terms of “We” and “Our”

When you think about your future, and the future you have with your partner, are you one entity? Do you think of your future as their future too? This is another big sign. When you think about the future and see yourself with them then it’s a good sign your relationship is in the right place for marriage. If they aren’t in your future plans then don’t make a commitment like marriage. It’s only going to work if you see yourself with them in the long term.

You Accept Their Past

One reason that marriages fail is that you don’t really know enough about your partner. Especially when it comes to their past. The past really does define the future. If you are worried about the past your partner has and the likelihood of it repeating itself then no, you aren’t ready for marriage. You need to know the things that could hinder your marriage, accept them, and move past them. Don’t hide your own past from your partner either. They have to know and accept you too.

You Plan a Marriage, Not a Wedding

There’s a difference between a wedding and a marriage. Everyone wants an ideal wedding, but very few actually consider the marriage that comes with it. You aren’t ready for marriage if all you want is a good wedding. You have to want the lifetime marriage that comes after it.

These are some of the signs that you are ready for marriage. It’s a major decision so please don’t rush it. Don’t forget that all of these points also apply to your partner.

Don’t just ask yourself if you are ready for marriage, ask yourself, and your partner, if they are ready for marriage too. yeah you need to take into account the feelings and opinion of your belved one…

8 Winter Skincare Tips

winter-timesWinter is a really rough time of year for your skin.

With that in mind here’s a list of eight quick tips to keep your skin in good condition over the winter.

1.Wear Sunscreen, Even In The Cold

That’s right; sunscreen is for more than just the summer. The sun still shines during the winter and you’re still exposed to it. So don’t be afraid to put on the sunscreen even if you don’t feel the warmth.

2.Wear Gloves!

The hands are the part of your body that is hit hardest by the cold and harsh weather. Make sure that you wear gloves when you go outside. If you like to wear woollen gloves then it’s also a good idea to wear a thin cotton glove underneath to protect your skin from the wool.

3.But No Wet Gloves

Not only are wet gloves and socks bad for your health they’re also very bad for your skin. Take off wet clothes when you get indoors and get changed as quick as you can. Consider having a nice warm shower too before getting changed.

4.Moisturize Your Skin More

Winter makes your skin very dry and cracked. The easiest way to beat that is by moisturizing your skin regularly. Use serums such as hyaluronic acide  or vitamin C serums to keep it on top shape. Check the guide of the beauty blogger sophie, who wrote an in depth guide to help you choose the best vitamin C serum here, we asked her to write the same for hyaluronic acid.  When you pick out a moisturizer it’s also important to pick out an oil based one, rather than a water based one. The oil adds some extra protection for your skin.

5.Use A Humidifier

Everyone puts the heater on to survive the cold weather. The problem is that heaters leave your skin dry and cracked because they blow out hot and dry hair. A humidifier fixes that problem by making sure there is moisture in the air. So hook up the humidifier, as well as the heater.

6.Use Some Honey

When it comes to dry skin you need a good hydrating scrub. You can make your own at home using some honey mixed with sugar; that will help you get rid of dead cells and boost your skin.  Honey reduces inflammation on the skin, which keeps it healthy, and sugar can increase circulation. This can be especially useful in the winter where the blood in your body is used to keep the core of your body warm, rather than the extremities.

7.Treat Your Feet

A simple way to take care of your feet is to use a hydrating scrub or a pumice stone before you go to bed. It’s a simple routine to get yourself into and get used to doing. When you’ve scrubbed away the debris of a rough day apply a thick moisturizer and sleep in your socks. You’ll notice the results pretty quick and it’s a routine you can continue after the winter for fabulous feet.

8.Be Picky About Your Pajamas

The last tip is to use cotton or silk pajamas. Basically the softer your pajamas are the better they are for your skin. Silk might be the best but it’s expensive and you still get good results with cotton. Avoid rougher materials like wool and you should be fine.
